Like the title says - anybody know where to source a set of 30-85 roundwounds in standard (long) scale? I want 'em for stringing my P-bass G-C-F-Bb (one wholetone down on each string from A-D-G-C).
I know, of course, that I can buy singles from music stores or online - which is what I'm doing now - but I'm just curious if any manufacturers are packaging sets like this.
Thanks!

I think you'll have no other choice but to buy each string at unity...
That's what I do since no store near my home sell a set or string with the gauge for tuning in low C at about the same tension than low B... My guitarists prefer to tune in low C as low B is too low for their taste, so I have to follow and don't want to use a capo... |

You'd end up with a bunch of spare G strings (ha!), but it might be cheaper than buying singles, and you'd probably be able to source them locally. You'd need to set up your axe for the tension, of course, but you could probably make it work.

Even Skip @ Circle K admits that it's a problem and he's looking for Canadian distributors.
You could always buy a 4-string set and buy a high C to go on top of it. D'Addario should carry them.

FunkMetal, that's actually an interesting suggestion that I hadn't considered. It would be more expensive for me locally in stores than singles, but I should look into buying sets online - might be a bunch cheaper.
Thanks!

For a while I was getting custom extra-long sets in a custom gauge from them through a local GHS dealer. It was pretty easy to arrange, and there was no upcharge. I think the turnaround was about a week.
I believe that DR will do the same, but I don't know what their minimum order would be. |

RS66LA - 30-50-65-85
FM66 - 30-50-70-90
I think SIT will make sets in any guage you want, but I don't know what the pricing would be on that. http://nakedstrings.com/index.php
This is another option, and cheap enough, but don't offer a 70 string.

Rotosound: .030 .050 .065 .085
LaBella Slappers: .030 .045 .065 .085
LaBella Hard Rockin Steel: .030 .045 .065 .085
Those sets are avaialble right out of the box.
BUT, there are some resellers that will put together custom string sets for you. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
