| 34" scale strings on a 35" scale bass?

i have a lakland 55-01 that i recently bought used. the roundwound strings it came with were d-e-a-d! i put on a set of rotosound 77 jazz bass flatwounds. next day i noticed that the neck was showing a fair amount of relief (neck moved away from strings) such that the bass is considerably more difficult to play than it was with the old strings on. i noticed on the packaging, the rotosounds said "long scale 32-34". when i put them on, there was plenty of length but i did have to shave a little of the wrap off the string at the nut. the gauge of the set is 45-65-85-105-130 which is nearly identical to the lakland specs on their website. should i just ditch the flatwounds and get another set of strings? when i went to tighten the truss rod, it seemed as though it was as tight as it wanted to go. i've loosened the truss rod and then have begun to slowly tighten it back up but so far, still too much relief in the neck. (it was set up beautifully when i got it...not sure what strings were on it but they were roundwound and tapered at the tuning peg end.).
thanks
