35" Scale String Through

Sign in to disble this ad
I tried to search this but couldn't find any results.

My bass is a 5 string, 35" scale and only strings through the body.
I have been looking into either coated or pressure wound strings and would like to know what strings would fit. Also throw out some suggestions for rounds (that aren't too bright) that would fit my bass as well.

Rounds: DR Nickel Lo-Riders or Sunbeams I think will fit, someone else will have to verify for me though.

DR Black Beauties will most likely fit, the strings are 37.5" or so long. I put them on a 34" scale Carvin through the body and had plenty of extra string. To the best of my knowledge all DR strings will fit as well as some rotosounds and all MTD strings. Hope that helps.

All DR strings should work. I recommend Hi-Beams and Lo-Riders if you like more tension.

Dunlop strings should also work. I liked their stainless steel set.

K. DR is one of the makers I have been really looking at. Good to know that they will fit.

Danger Will Robinson: After doing similar research and hearing "all DR's should work" I bought a set of Hi-Beams for my 55-02. After an impromptu B string change during a song I found the taper of the B starts before the nut.

I'd prob be OK strung thru the bridge but it's more than likely back to Lakland strings for me.

Hmm... The Hi-Beams worked dandy through the body on my 55-01- 45/65/85/105/130 non-tapered B (MR5-130 I think, I bought them a couple of years ago).
