35" for string thru body?

hey, i tried a search but couldn't find my answer. should i buy longer scale strings if i string thru the body?

It depends on the strings. The only D'Addarios that will work thru body on my Lakland 55-02 are special order Superlongs. On the other hand, all DR strings I've tried are long enough.

+1 on DR's... they work great with the thru body basses I've tried them with... Celinder 35" 5 and Lakland 35" 5 string. They are GREAT strings also... long lasting. Lakland strings work also.... they are designed to work with the 55-94 type through body 35" scale bass. I find the Lakeland SS kind of 'clanky' sounding.. something going on in the upper mids... but the Nickels sound great to me.

SIT make some that work nicely, in several flavors, as do DA...I think LaBella and TI do as well.
