Has anyone one ever set a 4-string up with a low B? I love my low B. I have a 4 string project bass...I don't want to loose that low low low end. Any thoughts? besides keeping my 5-er around? |

If I played a 4 string I would tune it DGCF. |

A student tried this. It doesn't work incredibly well, but that's an overly cheap bass for you. He's now learnt that low B, while fun, won't suit him as much as drop D tuning does. |

Try it first before you go filing your nut - you might not like it. You can always undo the new setup it will need, but once you filed the nut - you can't go back.
Keep the 5er - they're not that hard to get used to.

The Warwick Taranis, Sandberg Terrabass.
I played the former, and I liked it.
