Question Which 5 and 6 string sets have taper B strings?

I love having the Elixirs that have the B string taper on my Ibbies, but I really don't want to pay for Elixirs. Any suggestions on relatively inexpensive sets that taper the B string?

It's difficult with DR coated strings - the taper B is an option available in the black colour but not the other colours.

(PS I spell colour as colour not color cause I'm Australian, hope that doesn't offend anyone!).

Also Warwick black label strings and the fodera's I'm using at the moment are taper-B.

I just got a new Ibanez SR405, and found out to replace the Elixirs - it will cost $50 [GC]

I'm going to special order (through a local music store) a couple SIT Powerwound .130 taperwound singles, and purchase a couple 4 string sets of Powerwound 45105's.

At JustStrings it comes to $24.30 for the 4 string set & the taperwound .130 low "B" single

That way I get TWO sets for less than $50, and SIT Powerwounds sound great! Warm, bright, easy on the fingers, and last longer than other strings in the same price bracket

I prefer warwick black labels myself (the B is tapered) They also have a coated string too.. not sure of the name?

I am weird like that though and like warwick strings... hated them at first though.

Hey ROB,

Check out Ken Smith. He offers a few sets with Taper B.

Good luck, Kirk
