5 string to 4 string

Sign in to disble this ad
hey, i play a 5 string back home and am visiting a friend right now. were planning on jamming tomorrow and i was gonna put a pair of strings that i brought with me on his bass cause the ones he has now suck balls. its a 4 string and i wanted to use the B E A D strings so i could still have my low string. would that not work out very well for some reason or another and should i just use the E A D G strings or is that alright to do?

You'd prolly have to re-do the nut to accomidate the thicker strings so it'd pretty much be a permenent change so if it is okay with your friend, other than that there is no real problem. Maybe some scale issues but nothing major.
