5 string flats 35'' scale - UK

Sign in to disble this ad
I wanna change my strings for flats as I'm playing almost exclusively soul nowadays, and was looking for some advice on quality brands available in the UK.

My bass is 35'' scale, the actual distance from nut to ball is 36'' and existing cotton winding to ball is 36 1/2''.

The only one's I have found so far that will definately fit are: D'Addario 5-String ECB Chromes Flat Wound Super Long

Checking out TI's site the JF365 should be OK but I can't find a UK supplier. Does anyone use the JF345 that can measure them to make sure they will fit?

Any other recommendations of strings, suppliers or both?

Edit: Just found this from La Bella and their 34'' scale give a 'total scale' of 37'' which gives me 1/2 an inch to spare so 760FLB should be a possiblity - can get at stringbusters.com

Edit 2: According to this TB thread the TI 345s will fit - would like a second confirmation before parting with £s though

Cheers,
Dave

Well, I took the plunge and bought the La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass 760FL-B from String Busters. They fit perfectly and so far - WOW!

I'm gigging them on Friday so I'll post back. It's gonna be a strange experience but I'm looking forward to it!

String Busters BTW... Ordered them Monday morning, standard 1st class post, arrived today (Wednesday) so no complaints apart from no notifications of dispatch etc - you have to log in to keep checking.

The La Bella flats were simply awesome last night on their first gig!

A few more gigs to mellow in and they will be even better. I've been playing bass for 29 years - why did I wait so long to try these strings?

Happy Bunny :-)

Great to deal with and he is adding more brands all the time. If he doesn't list what you want, ask for them, he can get them.
There is a thread in this section of the forum if you would like some feedback ratings.
