I just got my 55-02 today, and I believe it came with DR Hi-beams, I'm guessing that they're nickel by the feel and tone. I like the tone, but I'm curious about experimenting with other brands.
I used TI flats on my Skyline Glaub and I loved them, so I have a 5 string set coming to try out on the 55-02. Anyone have experience with the B string on TI flats?
If you play a 5 string, what strings do you use?

I like them better than DRs-- more flexible feel, less strident mids (to my ear). |

It's kind of tricky to narrow in on one's personal preferance without just trying different sets and figuring out what works best for you. |

Hi Beams are steel. Maybe you got Sunbeams, the nickel version of Hi Beams.
The 55-02 is a truly cool bass because it doesn't require a specific kind of string in order to get good, usable tone out of it. |
