5 string set with soft sounding G?

Any ideas? I have to really mess around with my levels so that my G doesn't stand out so much. But that muddies up the rest of the sound.

If it matters I use an Ibanez SDGR Prestige.

Thank you very much for any advice.

You can take a screwdriver and lower your pickup so that it's not so close to the G string.

Or RAISE it so it's CLOSER TO the string - this generally makes the string it's closer to louder, unless it's TOO CLOSE - where it 'chokes' the string's magnetic field & sound.
Experiment with p-up height - see what works.
I had a Jazz bass which had a quieter D String- I got too much volume on the G if I raised the pup, in the end I hadda get new pups- SOLVED problem striaght away.

Have U also tried different strings-?? sometime a string can be 'dead'.

I've always noticed that the G string in the LaBella Supersteps is more balanced with the other strings (it doesn't stand out so much ...).
