I haven't found any, and thread search hasn't come up with an answer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help. | Oops! My bad; reading too quickly.
I had no luck surfing either. Found mention that Rondo carries Indie strings in short-scale flatwound, but Rondo's website makes no mention of this product.
And found this thread discussing a possible workaround. I haven't tried it but would solder the strings inside the crimped portion : Who makes a 30" shortscale flatwound low B? |

Do you need a 32" winding length? Non-thru body? |

This is a good thing. Can you give me a measurement from Ball End to the Nut and the Ball End to the Tuning Post? I think you could get away with Medium Scale strings but want to make sure...
Then I can tell you of a few different options... |

Thanks.

| | Just days from retirement. | | Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: Lincoln, NE | | | Got the bass. Had to send it back. Came with a locking jack that was loose, wouldn't keep the plug in contact. The EMG active pickups didn't sound very good, probably because of the jack not being right. Wood splintering where it looked like the tuner holes were drilled back to front instead of the other way. Very wide neck, but I suppose that comes being a 5 string. Only other 5 string I've ever had was a 90s Gibson Les Paul, and I gave it to my boy because I just couldn't get used to it.
Maybe some day I'll find one that's a SS with a thin enough neck that I can like enough to keep. Then I'll be back looking for flats or tapes to use on it. Thanks for your help.

Maybe you want to look at doing a 4 string short scale tuned B E A D? |

Whoever had it before me refinished it badly. Even sanded the headstock inlay off. Replaced Hagstrom bridge with a BAII. But they left the electronics alone. Having a new inlay put in, finishing in Sherwood green, replacing bridge, NOS Guild knobs, style correct tuners. With the boom switch, B E A D strings would probably knock fillings lose. Definitely something to think about.
Thanks.

| | | | Sorry to re-open this thread, but the subject is exactly what I was hoping to see: 5-string short scale flatwounds!
I just bought an Ibanez GSRM25. My regular 4-string Mikro has a set of D'Addario Chromes on it (ECB81S), and I love love love them. All I really need is a flatwound low B around 0.135" that will fit, and I'll be in heaven.
Here are the relevant measurements for the B:
Ball end to nut: 29.675"
Ball end to tuner: 32.5"
In other words, the distance from the point where the string's ball end snugs up against the bridge.
Any ideas?

Dimensions:
Nut to 12th fret = 14 1/4", 28 1/2" scale length.
Nut to B post center = 2 1/4"
Nut to E post center = 3 5/8"
Nut to A post center = 5 1/8"
Nut to D post center = 4 1/8"
Nut to G post center = 2 5/8"
Nut to bottom of bridge = 30 1/8"
Measurements taken from neck side of nut.
Thanks in advance.
