That'll do, Thanks Justyn! What's the prevailing opinion on those strings?

GHS Precion Flats come in a 6 string set. You can find them on Ebay from time to time. Either that, or buy a 4 string set and the B and C strings as singles from juststrings.com.

Carvin, too. They are the same as GHS flats, and probably the best price.

what do you mean by "same as GHS flats", are they the exact same manufactured string in different packages, or what?

Basically, yes.

interesting. Those are the only flats I've ever tried before (the Carvin ones). As I recall, they sounded fantastic for about 2 months before going dead, and then they were the worst sounding string I've ever used.

But, mind you, the TI jazz flats are the best you can get. Low tension, killer tone that never dies.

they'd better be, for that price. As it stands now, I spend about 120 bucks annually on strings on the bass in question (1 pack every 3 months or so)

the only way it would be a worthwhile investment to me (mind you, I don't play professionally) would be if those strings lasted a whole year or more before needing a replacement.

by the way guys, thanks for all the replies, I'm grateful for all the info.
