***DISCLAIMER***

I don't know a thing about flatwounds

With that said, I know a lot about strings and their construction and to my knowledge the only "nickel" flatwounds made are Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats and maybe Pyramid Gold Flats. I think that all other string makers use stainless steel. Rotosounds Jazz Flats are monel. Chime in a you flatwound lovers.

I was thinking of getting nickel roundwound, but I wouldn't want to damage my ebony fretboard... because I want to keep the Aria and play it as long as possible.

Most flatwounds are steel I believe. Any flatwound will be easier on the fretboard compared to rounds (even if they are steel). Ground wounds next. Then nickel rounds. Then the steel rounds.
