I am doing a recording project and I want to string up one of my basses D, G, C, F - the top 4 strings on a standard 7 ERB's tuning. I am trying to find some strings that aren't too bright, as the finger noise can get out of hand when working with delays. I'm not sure if I necessarily want to use flatwounds either though.
I've been looking at Conklin, Ken Smith, and LaBella... does anyone have any other suggestions or some reviews of any of these strings? Thanks!

+1 on going with some flats if finger noise while recording is a concern... |

I know people who have strung regular scale basses piccolo with no adverse reactions whatsoever.

| | | | Would it fit in the nut okay? I know you'd definitely have to file it if you were going the other way... i.e., F#, B, E, A. |

| | | | Dumb question and I should probably do search... but how easy or hard is it to swap nuts? (That sounds bad.) How is it done? I've always wondered.... |
