HEY. i play a 76 guild b50. it has a set of phosphor bronze strings on it. they seem buzzy and really bright at first. when they get older, not as bright but still buzzy. the action is really nice right now-- low. i just had it set up and it plays great. are there any strings out there that are beefy, not too buzzy, but don't have too much tension for an ABG? thanks for the help.

I LOVE those things! Just about the ONLY ABG that really works (well, that and the old Ernie Ball Earthwood, but the Guild is so much better made). You know the TB rule, right? No pictures, no bass...

Understand that tension on an ABG isn't a bad thing. The tension is what causes the wood to pump air and low tension strings result in less acoustic output. The typical phospor bronze strings on ABG have a particular sound, but lots of people have had good luck using other regular electric bass strings on them too. TI flats might be good, but I'd be concerned about the low tension if I was wanting to use it acoustically. I've also read that some people really like modified rounds (e.g. D'Addario Half-Rounds and GHS Brite-Flats) on ABGs.
