8 dollar strings

I did the search and didn't find the answere I was looking for so I will ask you guru's of the bass arts.

My price for strings got cut and my current strings are dead. So I'm looking at these 8 dollar strings "Musicians Gear". I hear they're alright for the price but I'm also aware that you get what you pay for and I won't be able to change them for a few months. So once purchased I'm committed.

Anyway I'm curious as to how long they last and how well they sound? do they rattle? and most importantly do they break easily?

I'd live with old strings....

I actually thought about that. I ended up boiling them about a month or so ago and it cleaned them but also made them raddle like hell so I just feel its time to replace them although I am goint to build that kit (the PVC tube filled with alcohol thing). I just feel it's to late for these.

GC Strings

Yanno,
For less than $10 you can get a set of new, lively strings. Will they last as long as a set of, say, Elixers? Sound as punchy as DR Fat Beams? I have no idea.
I do, however, know that the price of the GC strings is so appealing , I bought 10 sets of them. I put them on every bass I have when that bass needs new strings. No one ever complained that any of my basses sound crappy. I think I paid $4.99 per set.
Worth every penny.
I like them.

YMMV
