800-2k presence in rounds

I've got a Modulus VJ with Nordstrand NJ4SE's. I've been using D'Addario XL's, which are decent, but lack the upper mid presence the VJ +NJ4SE's inherently lack. Before I launch on a pickup quest, I want to try a few different strings first. I was using 45-100 XL's and, just recently, 40-95 XL's. The 40-95's feel better (fairly stiff tension with that composite neck with 45-100's) and help a little in the upper mid (mostly by thinning out the bass and lower mids, not by enhancing the upper mids). I was thinking of giving the DR Sunbeams a whirl. I heard the tension is a little lighter, so I may try 40-100's. I'm all ears on brand and gauge.......

I've had excellent results with DR Sunbeams. They have a nice midrange.
