Ive never used them before. Ive heard people say they love em and others hate em. In an effort to give them a fair chance, should I put em on my Stingray or my Jazz? |

The construction of halfwounds must make them stiffer in feel. |

Luckily it's presidents day weekend and they were on sale, otherwise I might be pretty upset that I payed 40 dollars for the 4 string set... Guitar center only had the set that was 50-105, and they feel preetty darn high tension... my first impression is that they feel "stickier" than any set of D'addarios I've ever bought... something about the ridges and spacing of the winds does not get along with my fingers...
I don't think I'll keep them... I need something for my fretless but them D'addario chromes i bought just aren't bright enough for my playing... I'm going to try a set of compression wounds instead |

In terms of tone, for me, was like night and day. Fuller, accurate, no more finger noise, and louder. Love them on my ABG, though I canīt tell you how they sound on an electric bass

I like them for that chunky sound for classic rock but you will lose most of the piano-like chiming overtones.

You can tell me. I'm a bass player. I'll understand. |

When that was gone, it just seemed blah. I liked 'em on a J pretty well. Good "almost flats" sounding with the tone rolled off. Good "dead rounds" tone with it up and a little diggin in. |

I found half-rounds to be nothing special for tone, rough and grabby on my fingers (some will say they soften up after use...I disagree - they never did), extremely stiff and really not very much fun to play.
If you don't already have these on a bass, return them, sell them or offer them to someone who's not a friend.
Of course, strings are a personal, subjective thing for anybody...so YMMV.
