Active bass + flatwound strings + VT Bass pedal=

I recently acquired a Yamaha BB1200S, which came strung with some kind of steel roundwounds. Last night, just for the hell of it, to see what it would be like, I put on an old set of TI flats that I had lying around... HOLY ^%#&@*% it's amazing!!!! In my opinion, the VT Bass pedal really shines with flatwounds, but flatwounds + decent pre-amp and it's just brilliant... Plenty of brightness without any harshness or string squeak...

I'll probably put on a set of Chromes, because I think I'll like the tension and sound more (TI flats have a very particular voicing and feel), but for the time being I am VERY happy!!!

Welcome to the club.
TI flats, preamp, VT Bass, > jazz, latin, semi-acoustic work....
Forget about the Chromes, get used to the feel of the TI's.
