I have found 'my' strings. I was at club bass in Toronto today and I've seen some R. Cocco's on his wall but never really thought anything of them. I bit today and said, "what the heck?" and bought 'em. They're unlike any string I've used and I'm very happy with them. Mind you, these are for my 4-string bass which the parts on it are now probably worth more than the bass itself... If I could only find 'the' strings for my Bongo and my fretless.

Could you please elaborate on that a bit? I was umming and awing about a set of Cocco's as well. What did they sound like? (what bass do you have them on?). Also, I'm just wondering why you wouldn't put a set on your Bongo?

Sharp, crisp, articulate but with a nice rich low end. They really boost the high mids and it's exactly the tone I've been looking for on my p-bass. It's always sounded flat and chunky but these broke through that hurdle.

I wouldn't string my bongo up with them because it's not the tone I want on it. I got some DRs on it and even then I don't know if I'm too impressed. They're too bright and with the preamp, I don't know if I need that extra brightness.

Thanks! I think I'll give a set of the Cocco's a whirl.
