After much trial and error, I've concluded TI flats are my strings!

I've tried La Bellas, Chromes, Fenders, DRs and Rotosounds in various guages of flatwounds. I've tried DR Sunbeams, Hi-Beams and Lo-Riders and other rounds too.

But I keep coming back to TI flats. The tone is what does it. There are times I wish they had more percussive thump, but when I play the strings that do thump and then come back to the TIs, the TI's tone wins out for me. On my basses the tone is rich and fat, just how I like it, and with the right technique I get enough punch.

I know they're not for everyone, but I think for me I've found my strings.

I may just agree?

There is just something about these strings? (Feel, tone, punch)
That I just love.

For me, they are made for a P-bass.
But, sound great on my Jazz bass, Gibson Les Paul Signature Bass.
A Rickenbacker 4001, and ever a ABG.

I also like DR Sunbeams, and Ken Smith "Compressors"
But TI-flats are my #1 string.

I tried the webstrings SS flats which I heard are similar tension to TI's. They are very floppy and too loose for me, good tone but I can't dig in with those strings. So I shy away from trying TI's because of the low tension and the price tag. Congrats on fidning your string!

The TI Flats get a lot of love around here. I just recently bought my set which are on my Squier CV 60s p bass. Needless to say I love them.

Mastermold - how would you compare the TI to the Lo-Riders? I've got a set of Lo-Riders that I like and I threw on a set of La Bella Deep Talkin' and I'm missing some of the things that I liked with the Lo-Riders (the growl) but I do enjoy the way the La Bellas play. I'm certain I need to hunt around in the flat world to find my string, just figured I'd as someone who has already started down the path.

No that's one I still need to try, but I've heard they are similar to DR flats which are my second favorite.

Lo-Riders do indeed growl, and I've found the tension makes them a particularly good set for 5-string basses. TI flats are entirely different, less tension, a more woody tone, etc.
