Exclamation Alain Caron fretless tone: flats ou rounds?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a fretless bass, and I wanna have that alain caron fretless tone, that "mwah" both on the low end and on the high end (i got a 6er).
So, I've heard D'addario Chromes have plenty of mid range and growl, but.. still, Chromes or Rounds?

Pretty sure he uses LaBella Super Steps.
Saw some publicity of him endorsing those.

Unless you're totally new to strings, it should be completely obvious that he is using rounds.

it just that when he plays fretless.. I don't know, I don't have any experience with flats, that's why I'm asking. So, no way I'm getting near that tone with flats, huh?

I actually think I saw George Furlanetto say in one of the F Bass threads that he uses Tapewounds...

Since the strings have a nickel/stainless appearance rather than black, I would say that's false.
