All things being equal.... gauge....

I currently have a set of 40-95 D'addarios on my short scale ZZ Ryder... all other things being equal, what difference would I see if I put a set of 45-105 of the same string on it?

Thanks

more tension.

Personally, I would stick with the .95's, it'll provide a meatier sound, unless ur looking for that really tight sound.

Just wonderin'... been looking for a bigger sound... switching out the pickups did a lot of that... just wondering if it could be better.... inexperienced so I am considering the possibilities...

more output is an effect of larger gauge strings.

increased harmonic content is another.

being it's a short scale I would actually recommend a larger gauge string to make up for the lowered tension of the short scale.

Your best bet is to try around with differant gauges and brands to find the ones you like best.

all things equal, there are a lot of things that can give you a better tone.

Technique is a big part of it too. Sometimes, it just takes that magical touch, to bring the best out of a bass.
