I normaly use Elixir strings but they are very expensive. So I'm looking for an alternative to them , longevity is very important. I thought of DR coated strings could be what I'm looking for.

Any thought ?

DRs will last forever. They do not have quite the high-end zing that Elixers have and the tension is a BIT lower.. also there's a more pronounced midrange on most DRs. Lo-Riders and Hi-Beams are sort of standards. I use Lo-Riders on all my basses, and I have never had to change a set because of anything but boredom+curiosity on my part

I just installed a set of Hot Pink coated DR's on my Sadowsky and I love them so far. They have lots of top end and I love the sounds I get out of them for slap and fingerstyle.
