Another flats question

I've been thinking about switching to flats, and I was wondering about tension. I just bought my bass used back in October, and it has standard 105 gauge (I assume) rounds on it. Would you guys recommend replacing with 105 flats or would a lighter gauge be better or will it make that much of a difference in feel and playability? I realize I may have to do a truss rod adjustment regardless, so I'm ready as far as that goes. I'm either going to go with D'Addario chromes or a set of flats from webstrings.com. I've been looking at Black Beauties, too, but I hear more good things about the chromes, so I'm leaning that way. So stay with mediums or maybe go lighter?

I would go with the lighter gauge chromes 45-100. I think you will find the tension of the
105's too much if your used to 105 roundwounds. I've tried both and find the 105's a little big for me. I also think you would find the web string flats too dead sounding after switching from rounds. I recomend chromes in 45-100

I use Chromes custom light 40 60 80 100 I even like
Ernie Ball 40 60 70 95 that's the same gauge I used for rounds. I like the lighter gauge as you get a little more overtones and easier expression but you need to develop a light touch and not dig into them. After many years of using medium gauge strings I've come to really like lighter gauges and lighter touch the last couple years.
