another LaBella flats question

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, finally got my set of 760FS strung up on a Highway One P. The E-A-D sound great, with consistent tone across the set. However the G string sounds dull and thuddy, similar to a GHS.

Seems ironic... the common complaint is G strings tend to be overly bright and zingy. This is the opposite scenario. All the other strings have that zing of new steel flats, while the G doesn't.

Is this normal for these strings? Have I got a bad one? Or does the G just break in first, and I should wait for the rest to settle in and even out?

Never experienced this with any DTF. In fact I've found the G string is the brightest string in the set. However I do get a weird phasing A in every DTF set I try. But look man check if anything about the bridge-saddle seems out of whack and if not It's time to contact LaBella customer support.

Problem solved. It was twisted.

I had already checked for that, but it was a little tricky to get the ball to tighten up against the tailpiece in the untwisted position.

Great strings!
