Well i thought i would use rotosound swing bass 66 steels forever but today i went to a shop and they didnt have any in, i'd heard about d'addario XL nickels before and i really needed a new set of strings so i went for these.

I got 40-100 guage.

When i put them on i thought the packaging was interesting, the different gas inside the packaging was an interesting idea and when i opened them up they did feel extremely.... clean.

So i put them on, tuned up etc. and i was really surprised, they wree as bright as my rotosounds and they were smoother like nickels usually are, the finger noises were down alot and the fret 'clanks' when i fret fast were down aswell.

So i tried them through the amp today, i use a squier precision special and they had a really nice growl to them, sort of stringray-esque sound.

If they last for a decent while i think i will be completely converted.

Just thought i'd put it out there.

Good choice, they are great, cheaper than most brands and widely available. I use D'Addarios on all my guitars and basses (except the one bass that has an experimental set of DRs )
