any reccomendation on strings that give the highs more weight?

i have had my bass for about a year now, its a schecter c 4. i put ernie balls on em, and a few months ago i put D'Addario Nickelwounds which sound so much better to me. But the tone of my highs is very bright, a lot of it is due to my bass, but nonetheless when i am playing with my friends (who play loud), my D and G string dont really pack enough punch to be heard clearly. Tonally i want to be able to get a more bassy sound (I know oxymoron) out of em. I was wondering if you guys had any reccomendations on any strings that could make any kind of difference.

thanks in advance

try getting a heavier gauged set. the (.5, .7, .85, .105) is what i use, the d and g have a little more meat.

or if you want more meat and warmth than that, get flatwounds. flats are thick warm and punchy.

I agree with MJB, heavier gauge strings should boost the lows, a lot of it is your bass. I play a Stiletto and it's more of a mid to high bass, but I still get a lot of low. I use Ernie Ball Powers (.55-110). I also turn the bridge pickup down 1/4 and boost the bas 1/4. That should get some more low. It might still be punchy depending on the attack, you should try EQing your amp too.

I also agree with MJB. I recently installed some GHS flats on my P-bass, and the D & G strings have never sounded thicker and punchier. They're a good match for the lower strings. I'd like a little more brightness, but still, these are great if you want a thick vintage tone. Very comfy smooth too.
