Any thoughts on best strings for tapping?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there-- I play an Ibanez bass guitar, and have been thinking of going to a lighter gauge string. I favor half rounds, because I do a lot of sliding around on strings, but I also do a lot of tapping, slapping, and finger picking. Any ideas on what strings would be best for my technique?

Its mostly the action. That said, I tap on the Ibanez I do have and its strung with SIT Rock Brites or something like that

Low tension, low action, best for tapping.

Low action and get some stainless steels rounds in light gauge. I have Blue Steels on my SR305. Sounds great and I do a ton on Tapping and slaping.

Okay, this makes sense. I used to play a Gibson EG or SG (?) and the action was really low. Excellent for tapping. So, I guess I'll be taking my bass in to get the action lowered.

Why is that better for tapping? I've always liked strings with a lot of bend to them-- just curious.
