Anybody out there mix and match roundwounds/flatwounds?

I've been doing a lot of experimenting lately with various string types. I find that I like the low end growl of roundwounds and the mellow high end of flatwounds -- so that's exactly what I'm using! So far, I really like it.

The tone transition in the middle is little different than if I had used all roundwound or all flatwound strings. In fact, it is almost nonexistent. And I get the best of both worlds on the high end and the low end.

Specifically, I'm using Fender 8250M, Nickelplated steel, roundcore/taperwound .110TW and .085 on the low end (Rotosound 66's would have been equally good). On the high end, I'm using Thomastic-Infeld Nickel Flat Wound Roundcore .056 and .043.

Don't knock it unless you've tried it. The question is: has anybody else tried it?
