Does anyone on here play Detroit Flats from Web Strings? I want to put a good set of flats on my new Jaguar and was wondering how the quality is on these strings. I put a set of Rotosounds 77 Jazz strings on it but don't like them. They seem a bit too much like rounds to me and I couldn't get used to the tension. Too high and too much zing for my taste. I had TI Jazz flats on an SX bass I had before which everyone raves about but they just seemed dull and lifeless to me. Could have been the bass too though. I'm wondering about either the Detroit Flats, GHS Precision Flats or Labella Deep Talkin flats. I just hate shelling out about 50 bucks each time to experiment. I'm looking for good sounding flats with good tension.

If the tension of Roto 77s was too much for you you'll probably hate them. LaBellas are hard to beat, or if you really want flats that cut and are comfy to play, get some D'Addario Chromes and give them a week of play to settle in. |

I meant the tension on the TI Jazz flats. They seemed way too floppy for me. I actually really like the higher tension of the Rotos so the Detroit Flats might be a good choice. I might try out those and the GHS Precision flats since they are both pretty low priced. Anybody know how the tension is on them and which one you might recommend between the two? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
