Anyone compare Sadowsky Flats to Chromes

Sign in to disble this ad
I have set of Ernie Ball 50-70-85-105 flats that I got an Ebay bass. A little high tension wise.

I think I want to go 45-65-80-100. Which the Chromes do.

But the Sadowsky sound interesting. Anyone compare them sound and tension wise to Chromes?

to me the Sadowskys are slightly more "Labella-like" or old school than the Chromes. Just a little less mids than the Chromes, but good cut. Thats just my impression from a few months use.

Oh...and tension, I didn't notice a whole lot of difference. Maybe others will.

I've used both but on different basses so take my comments with an appropriately sized grain of salt. I prefer the Sadowsky flats; to me, they seem warmer and more even across the sonic spectrum while the Chromes have very prominent mids which don't jive so well with my Precision bass. The Sadowskys have slightly less tension than the D'Addarios but it's not a big difference.

I've never tried the Sadowsky flats but I have tried the Chromes (45-100), and found the tension to be very high (higher than the LaBella 760FL 043-104, which I adore).
