Anyone from GHS?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone here affiliated with or have a good contact at GHS strings? I picked up a GHS custom shop .M3050 5 string flatwound set over the weekend when I was out of town and the EAD&G are all "long scale plus" (35")while the B is "standard long scale"(34") - doing me a fat lot of good. I was waaay out of town when I picked them up so return is out of the question. I'm going to shoot them an email, but thought I'd check here for advice on who to talk to there first.

GHS Strings

Hey,

Hopefully I can help answer your question! I talked to some of my techs at the office and they agree that it is strange that 4 strings of the 5 string set are extra long scale. However, the fifth string should still have a 38" winding. Were you able to try it on your bass? Also what kind of bass is it?

The set should work on most bass guitars, but I have heard of some that have trouble.

Chris,

The paper envelope for the B reads 36 1/2" winding vs. 38" for the EADG, and comparison- I didn't measure- bears this out. I've currently got them on my Ibanez ATK305, but had to string the B thru bridge rather than body. Likewise, trying them on my 35" scale custom is right out. If I can figure out how, I'll post pics of the envelopes.

Any way, is an extra long scale flatwound B available, and how would I go about getting one?

Thanks
