anyone have any experience with the "new" Fender 8250's?

I have heard that Fender has changed string manufacturers and am wondering if these strings are the same as the old ones. Hope not!

I use Fender 7250's on my P bass and recently put on a new set that came in the new packaging. The silk wraps at the end are gone. Although the tone is similar, it just doesn't seem as full sounding, even after letting them break in for a few weeks. I put the old set of 7250's back on and they sounded better.

I have since cleaned out the Indianapolis area shops of 7250's in the old packaging (I have about 15 sets now). Since Fender changed all their string line ups to a new manuacturer, I would think this might apply to the 8250's as well.

Fender manufactures their own strings. Maybe they changed formulations?

new fender strings - not good

I have a % string Am Std Jazz and the old 8250-5ms are great. I ordered the newer and received 2 different sets of duds form guitar center. The E-string was wound imporperly on the first, and the A string was bad on the second set. Not to mention, like you said the wraps are gone. It's not easy finding the correct strings with it needing tapered B and E strings.

CLEAN OUT YOUR LOCAL STORE OF THE ORIGINALS

(send some to me too!)

I picked up 2 sets of the old 8250's on clearance at Best Buy. I'm bummed to hear of any change with the new ones. Out of all the great revieww; why can't they leave well enough alone? If the 7150's remain unchanged, this could be another option.

Bought a set and slapped 'em on my 85 Jazz Bass Special. Not digging them. Don't dig Fender strings period but I needed a new set of string and the store was limited to Fender and Ernie Ball.

As soon as I heard about this, I grabbed a set of 8250's for my five string, and I should look around for more. I simply love these strings on my four and five string J's, and I have another J-bass coming from G&L in a few weeks for which I should stock up.

I might need to return to GHS Boomers. They sound and feel similar to the old Fenders, but IMO/E they have about a third the longevity, which is a drag.

I actually tried out a lot of strings and came back to the 8250's. They are a perfect match for the new Fender basses IMO. The tapered E actually works great on any bass after a bridge adjustment.

I was using the 8250 5m's because they were just like the Labella's I was getting. Now it seems like they are D'Addario. I just bought 5 packs and hate the new ones! Guess I'll go back to Labella slappers....anyone need some 82505m, I have 3 packs

Yeah same here. So...does anyone have an alternate string suggestion for us "OG" 7250 or 8250 lovers?
