Anyone have a string they keep going back to?

In the decade plus that I've been playing I've tried out a fair amount of strings. And I'm always excited when I try out a brand or type that I haven't played before.

The results are always the same though. I always end up back with DR Hi-beams (.45, .65, .85, .105). Anything else is just too floppy, too tight, too rough, too noisy, too boomy, too brittle, too something.

Am I alone in this or do other people have my affliction (not just with DR's, but with any brand)?

I keep tryin' different brands, but always seem to land on Dean Markley Blue Steels, 45-128. Works for me!

GHS Bassics. I'm too stingy to pay more and the tone/feel satisfies me. I'm going to come back after the set of Hi-Beams currently installed on my bass goes dead.

D'addario XL's. Then again, I've been using them since about 1988 so it's not like I go back and forth anymore. I did all my experimenting back then, and I really couldn't care less about new strings on the market.

For me it's D'Addario XLs. Used to be Blue Steels (and I still use them on one of my basses), but the D'Addarios have the nickel-plated warmth the Blue Steels lack, and last almost as long. They were the stock strings on my Yammie and since I liked the feel and the sound I tried em on my Fender Jazz. Never looked back.

I've tried lots but I keep coming back to Rotosound Swingbass. They give me the sound and feel I like.

DR SS Lo Riders forever. I can't always afford them when it's time to change, but I'll get through a gig or two with Warwick Reds or some other cheap brand and buy a set of DRs when the money comes through.

I've never left Rotosound. Everything I've read on here has had me thinking several times about trying out some DR's (not that I haven't read great reviews about others, but DR seems to get a ton of praise!), but I can never bring myself to buy a set of strings that aren't what I know and love. That said, I've slowly progressed from Swing Bass to Solo Bass to Piano String Design... and I've loved 'em all!

Fender Super Bass Nickelplated. I should know better than to even try anything else on my fretted basses.
