Anyone know a cheap, accurate way to measure string tension on the bass?

Thread title says it all. Is there a cheap device that can do this?

Thanks,

If its for a science experiment, you could rig up a set of fish scales to a string. Beyond that Its down to the phisics lab.

I'm trying to think of what the mathematics would be to work out the tension if you measure a deflection at the midpoint and triangulated.

Option 3: email a string maker.
