Anyone still using Elixir nanoweb strings?

Or has the whole coated string fad "worn off"?

I use them on my acoustic guitar because they sound great and last at least 3x as long. But I've never tried them for bass.

They are good strings but I'd go with some DR color coated strings first. They have a much better tone in my opinion and they feel more like a real string.

They are the only ones I use.

There's still a ton of people on this board that love them.

Any good for slap tone? I don't need the super, pingy pops but I don't what them to sound too muted either.

They sound surprisingly similar to stainless steel strings. If you A/B and record them with Stainless strings you'd be surprised. I'd definitely consider them brighter rather than mellow or darker.

The only string I will put on my SR5 now. And probably put them on my ADJV once I use up the XL170's I have laying around.

nanowebs are definitely not "muted" sounding. Some might argue the older polywebs were, but the nanos cured that with a much thinner coating.

Huh. I never thought so at all. I always liked Elixir because they sound like a broken in set of rounds, and stay that way without getting "thuddy".

Many moons ago I did have a set of the first polyweb stings. They sounded like a set 2 week old nickels, but never changed tone after that. I think I had them on a bass for over a year until they started to unravel.

Elixer nanowebs are all I put on any of my basses.

I hear you. All of my basses are strung with either Elixirs or T.I. Flats. In this economy I need to find a cheaper alternative!

Love 'em also. whether I can afford 'em's another matter. I use D'addario EXP coateds & DR's & Elixirs when able. But I find I've cut down my string buying by 75% by using the Alcohol-24hr soak method

I don't use anything but Elixirs. Best bet is to find an internet store for the cheapest price, but for those complaining about costs in the U.S., you should see the prices here in Europe! Still worth every penny though as they last waaaaay longer for my uses and require less maintenance on your bass from changing strings every 5 minutes (if you are Anthony Jackson )

Added bonuses are consistant recording tone day-after-day and less 'finger-squeak' due to the coating.

...................Man I gotta get a job working for Elixir! Basically they are a godsend for the slightly-sweaty-handed-player-who-kills-strings-too-quickly-while touring-type-person!

Care to share where?

I've been buying 45-105 sets with a 125 B for about $65 CAD total. I used to order from juststrings.com for , but apparently Gore now prohibits them from selling out of the country:

Yeah, I have a set on my Sandberg California PM5. They were on there when I bought the bass....2 years ago and I play that bass in a heavy band with a 1mm pick. No unravelling and they sound just as bright as when I first bought the bass.

Yeah sure, a set is more expensive than a set of "normal" strings but the Ernies I use on my P Bass don't last 2 years. 2 months maybe but not 2 years like the Elixirs. The higher price of the Elixirs, for me anyway is cancelled out by the fact that I'm not having to buy new sets every verse end.

Yer Sir!!!!!!!!!!, last forever, balanced tone and worth every penny when I consider I would go through 2 or 3 sets of MM DR's.

They're my string of choice. Especially good for not tearing your fingers up after back to back 4-hour shows.
