I have them on both my basses right now, and have used them almost exclusively for a while. I rarely change them, but it is getting to be time, and I think I am ready to experiment with flats.

| | | | I have just tried a set- I usually use Hi or Fat Beams.
Is it just me or is there way more tension in the strings? They even feel thicker (I'm using the same gauges that I always use)
The sound is so different too- not in a bad way.

The sound is so different too- not in a bad way. | They have a little more tension than Hi Beams. I'm pretty sure the Elixir's are wound on a hex core. They feel just like D'Addario XL's to me in both tension and playability. I really dig 'em. Nice nickel tone that lasts.

| | | | I still use 'em and still love 'em. They suit my style. I've been buying them at my local music store for $54 Canadian. Usually get 3-6 months out of a set, depending how busy I am.

I previously had DR black beauties and they were far too piano tone for me + sliding on black beauties is the easiest way to get ouchy fingers,... played a gig with a song that was a major long slow slide every riff and at the end I think rope burn would have been nicer!
now have them on my squier fretless jazz but I think theyre a bit tooo dark sounding combined with the ebonol fretboard,... doesn't bother me too much cos I don't overly like that fretless and want to get rid of it! (sooooo much gas for a gwb35 right now!!!)
