Anyone string a non-taper core D'A ENR71-5SL B thru a Lakland body

Lakland B strings are tapercore over the bridge. I really like ENR71-5SL strings on my other basses. I'd like to try them on my DJ5.

As long as the winding is long enough to clear the nut, you will be fine. I have used a lot of non taper B strings on my DJ5. DR Hi-Beams for example.

You just need to adjust the saddle height.

Yeah, the "SL" B is long enough. I just got a set so they're going on tonight.

Thanx.

So..... I put 'em on and they sound wonderful.

But now I see why Lakies need tapered base B string . The B's bridge roller is too freak'n fat to get the action down low enough for a non-tapered .130 B string. Well if Steve Howe can play every kind of string instrument made, I can handle a little higher action for the sake of good tone.

You can probably order a single from juststrings.com that's tapered. I did that with a set of Prosteels.
