I was thinking Daddario NP 40-100 and Fender NP 120 on B... I like the tightness of B on Fender and flexibility of Daddario on E to G...

Just a thought...

I have some doubts... sometimes, I've played (for a practice's time only) with different brands of strings (when I broken a string) and the sound difference was too much audible

I do it. I use TI Jazz Flats for the A, D and G. They give that nice,
mellow flatwound sound. But for the E, the Jazz Flats were too dull for
me. There, I use a Fender Super Bass 8250 roundcore/taperwound for
the growl that I like.

mixed strings

I do it.

I like the DR Hellborgs but they only make a four string set: EADG.

I run the Dingwall B string which fits perfectly. The Dingwall strings are stainless, the Hellborgs are single wrapped nickel.

This will do until DR makes 5 string set of Hellborgs, (I asked, they said it wasn't going to happen) or Dingwall comes out with a nickel set for the Super J's.

The Dingwall voodoos are great strings, I just like the slicker feel of nickel.

My B E and A strings are elixir's, and my D and G are GHS boomers. I didn't do this on purpose, but I like the brightness of old boomers on my higher strings and a warm tone on my lower ones

I went through a string-testing phase trying different brands and windings. Play in an original hard-rock band and have chromes E-G and a nano-web round for the B. Great combo for our music and the sound is what I was hearing in my head during my search.

T-Bone Wolk mixed rounds and flats on his P Bass. Flat E and A, round D and G.

I've had to mix strings on my bass from time to time, (35" scale and a Gotoh bridge, can't always find a B string the right length), but it always sounds bad.

Mind you, it's unusually even string-to-string, and very bright and transparent (18V EMG's, stout neck-through with maple, bubinga, ebony, and carbon fiber reinforcements), so small differences really stand out.
