Anyone using rounds on their 51 Precision Reissue?

Hey Guys,
I just picked up a 51 P Reissue (before the Fender price hike) and really love it. I've been reading that many of you are using flats on this particular bass, but was wondering if any of you are using rounds and what success you have had. I was thinking about slapping a set of Chromes on but I really am a roundwound(Usually Rotosound Swing Bass 66's) kinda guy. I play progressive rock mainly.Your thoughts?
Brent

Well the bass comes stock with Fender rounds, so you could certainly use the Roto 66s. Personally I prefer flats on this bass, but you certainly don't have to use flats.

Yes I realize that. I guess I wasn't clear. The idea of my post was to get opinions about how others are digging their 51's with rounds or flats and what kinda tones they are getting. Maybe a soundclip or two.

Sure, I thought mine was okay with the stock Fender rounds but I put on some Fender 9050ML flats and really prefer the tone. Very thumpy but great response too, nice deep growl from the single coil pickup. The neck on these is really easy to play too, very comfortable. The only thing I'd change is the thick polyurethane finish, but the tone and playability are so nice I can get past that.

As mentioned, mine came with Fender rounds; on its' next setup it will be changed to flats for a more traditional tone.

My first set of strings on it were a set of DRs, stainless Low Riders I believe. The bass sounded really good with rounds. It now is sitting with a set of TI flats, which will stay on it until they fall apart.
I had no problem with the rounds on it at all. It sounded great to me. If I ever do get around to playing rounds again, it would probably be nickel rounds since I like thier sound better. I have an interest in prog rock myself, by the way, and I wouldn't be scared to use this bass if I ever play the genre again, although I think my Jazz or my Carvin five strings would soundwise be a better fit.

I loved mine with rounds. Dadarrio 165's. SD quarter pounder pick up kicked major butt also!
