One of the (many) FUDs spread around about acoustic bass guitars is that bronze strings are the only way to go for acoustic volume.
I've been working on pairing the right strings to my Breedlove ABG, and while the standard issue bronze strings are very good,
these medium scale Chromes are louder and more focussed to my ear. If you are looking to experiment I would recommend giving them a try. They did take a few hours of playing to settle in.
Funny thing is, I don't like Chromes at all on electric. But I suspected the tonal aspects I didn't like on electric would work on the acoustic and it was a rare case of me being right!

If anybody else tries/has tried this, let me know your thoughts.
One thing to note: that the silk needs to be entirely removed at both ends of the E string to get it through the bridge. Otherwise the medium scale length is a perfect fit.
