Ok, im a newbie to the forums and a newbie to the bass guitar...I got the ibanez jumpstart pack like 4 days ago...had it all tuned up bsing around playing some tabs when my crack head cousin shows up....he grabs it and says it need to be tuned up....im like ehh i just tuned it with an electric tuner its fine just tune the E string i was trying to drop d tune it...So about 5 mins later PING!!! he breaks a string.....awesome thanks cuz...He leaves i try and tune the 3 strings back up to bs around with it...I break another string....so im going to guitar center or another local guitar shop for some strings after work tomorrow What are some ok strings to throw on there and how do i do it right? any help is appreciated.

Sounds like neither one of you knew what you were doing.... AND you have a tuner?

Read this, kick your cousin's ass, and just buy any cheap-o pack of strings. It probably shouldn't matter too much at this point. Getting picky about tone is a never-ending trap.
