B, D + G strings are good. Need different E and A. Less piano like. For AC5 fretless

No longer needed.

I can't recommend anything specifically, but go to www.bassstringsonline.com

Jason has a TON of singles available, you won't find a better selection of singles anywhere. Email him with what you want and he can put together any number of custom sets. Sometines it just takes buying 2-3 different gauges for each string until you find that magical combination, which is exactly what I did on my custom sets.

You may want to wait a week until the Super Steps mellow out. I use them on my Fivers and on my J Style (Alder) they mellow out. On my Neck thru Warwick, they do not. If you want a killer string to put on the F-bass, try LaBella Deep Talkin' Roundwound Stainless Steel. If you want to keep the bare core, look into Fodera Anthony Jackson Signature (only one gauge though and possibly only 6) or Fodera Matt Garrisson Signature.

I know what you mean. I have a hard time waiting 3 days for new strings to arrive much less the anticipation of break-in.

Yeah time is usually the answer here. I generally find the thicker the string the quicker the zing is lost.

I'm a big fan of DR Sunbeams, which are nickel. These mellow really nicely with time.

Yeah, I have sunbeams on another bass. I usually lean toward nickels. Wanting to stay a little brighter if I can but not to much "piano". Don't know if that is possible !!! Ordered some DR DDT strings on the advice of Tom7. Here is a vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PShk4...ature=youtu.be
