B string ball end huge-ness

Sign in to disble this ad
Just strung up my Carvin B5 w/ D'Addario flat chromes. Love them on my P's so I decided to go flat on the five. The (.132") B string ball end had to be "slighty" forced into place w/ a punch and hickory handle. Anyone ever had to do this on a string-through?

I had some problems with the current set of chromes that I have on my EBMM SR5. I had to clip back some of the silk and use a little added tension from the tuner to pull the string through. I'm not looking forward to when I eventually (by this I mean a couple years from now hopefully) need to replace the strings.

I hear you Mutt. I was thinking the same thing when it comes time to change. I too wondered if it was the silk wrap that bunched up rather than the ball end being a tad over sized.
