B string Gauge

What gauge and brand of strings are you guys using for your low B? Tonally, my B sounds far too different from the other strings. I'm looking for a string that has no variation is tone from the E to B strings when playing the same pitch. I've always been a fan of D'adarrios with my 4-string, just got my first 6er.

I really like Fodera Diamonds. They are my favorite string. They have great tension, especially on the E and B strings. They also sound and feel great. And they last long. I don't buy them because they are "Fodera" strings - they are the real deal and are not badly priced either.

I use La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels with a .128 B string and I like them, but I like DR Hi-Beams even more and fortunately last week I found a site that ships strings internationally at a reasonable price (currently, nobody carries DRs where I live) and ordered a set of DR Hi-Beams with a .130.

.125 on 35 inch scales, and .130 on 34 inch scales.

I use TI Jazz rounds and they have a really well balanced tone across all the strings. .118 B

On my MIM Jazz Bazz V I have a .107 B string. I strung the bass with the EADGC strings and tuned BEADG. It feels and sounds like a dream. Not floppy at all. I'm about to go really light on my yamaha as well. It has a 35 inch scale, and I've tried many different string sizes above .125, and the best yet was a dean markley signature nickelsteel .128. I'm gonna order some custom sizes soon with something around a .117 or .115 to see if that fixes my problem.

^^--are you using that .118 on the 6er in your avatar? Also, what kind of strings are you using?

The most even-sounding 5-string set I've tried is the MTD with a .135x B-string. The best low-B I've played.

Interesting that a 118 makes a good B. My Rob Allen basses use a 115 for the E!!! Of course, the LaBella tapes are less dense than what you're using. I have one fretless that uses a 125 and still sounds good.
