B String for Warwick

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everybody. I'm wondering what companies make a B string with a long enough taper to fit a Warwick bridge. The bass is my first Warwick 5 string so I have no experience with this.

Thanks for any responses.

I'm in the same boat with my new corvette$$ 5-er.

I have the impression that Thomastik-Infeld and SIT and possibly DR do the taper, but it is grand mal hard to find the info.....am returning a set of D'addario Chrome XL's as the B is humongous at the ball end.

Are you looking for tapered strings? Or are you looking for a longer taper? Cause if it's the former, D'addario makes tapered B string singles that are available at most large music stores.

I use these...Warwick Black Label Strings. I don't know what the consensus is on them but they work for me.

I have my Corvette 5 strung up with Rotosound Swing Bass '66s. Fits nicely. I've got a .130 on at the moment, but I'm trying to get my hands on a .135 for the extra tension.

Good news....there is at least one....Sadowsky Blue (roundwound) or Black label flatwounds with .130T for the B. There is also a .125 non tapered that may fit. Corvette $$ seems right on the edge of XL, so that may be the only two sets....

I just got them today and put 'em on my 'vette$$ and the XL's are just a scoonch long as I'm wrapping fat string about 1/2 turn around the post. The taper is perfect for at least the Corvette$$.
