Sign in to disble this ad
so i have a 34" scale 5 string bass using regular light gauge (45-65-80-100-130) but im thinking bout using medium (50-70-85-105-135). do you think this is a bad idea. im thinking it may be a problem for the low B which will then become way too floppy.....

You should be fine, that is not enough of a difference in size to need a new nut. And yes, the heavier strings will make them less floppy.
