Yes I know, already are revolting, but not as revolting as drummers!
What I meant was that a guitarist can re string their instruments for just over a five-er, guys and gals, a 1/4 ton, if you want 5 strings.... I can't believe there is that much more metal in our strings.... |

You may also be buying from the wrong place.
There is quite a bit more metal / windings in bass strings. |

| | | | Buy flats, then you won't have to buy strings for 3 years. |

2. Compare the number of times per year that bassists buy strings to the number of times per year that guitarists buy strings.
3. Compare the labor and material costs for bass strings to the labor and material costs for guitar strings.
Examine any company that makes both bass and guitar strings and I suspect you'll see that bass string revenue is less than or equal to that of the guitar counterparts.

| | | | I think most bass string sets are a bargain. There has to be 5 times the metal in a set of 4-string bass strings. The average price ratio is 2.5 to 1, bass to guitar.

| | | | I'll side with edt844. At least 4 times and prob 5 times as much metal in a 45-105 4 srtring bass set compared to guitar 9-42 set.

I wish I sold guitar strings... oh wait... |

Considering that I'm currently using string sets on various basses with an average age of between six and eight years, I don't feel too much pain in the wallet. However, I can see where those who feel the need to change their strings more often are getting hit pretty hard. |

Those are very cheap to make, and with very little waste. All the strings in a bass set are wound, and the bigger ones have multiple windings. Bass strings simlpy ARE more expensive, NY a very large degree, than are guitar sets.
Then add in the very real economy of scale due to the much greater number of guitarists compared to bassists.
