Bass shop in NYC with good string stock?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

i'll be in NYC pretty soon and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a shop that has a good selection of bass strings. I was thinking of looking for La Bella flats in particular. I was just wondering if it would be cheaper to pick up some sets whilst there.

Thank you.

But while you're in NY you can check out Larry Hartke's Bass Lounge. I think it's on 48th st. where Manny's used to be...

Guitar center stocks the labella 760fl's. Rudys on 48th has Ti's and labellas. Unfortunately no shop in nyc has a wide selection.

I saw Labellas in Samash on 48th, unfortunately they only had short scale sets.

I did the 48th street thing a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a long time . . . man it's been decimated! the places were packed w/ a-holes (ok, not totally uncommon) but w/ crap gear! when the "used" gear is your highest end stuff there is a problem.

I couldn't even get in to Rudy's though I vowed never to go in there again since I've been screwed too many times . . . I'll stick w/ on-line porn!

though I always wanted to go to Hatke's bass lounge and the Warwick shop ...

Mail order them from Elderly.com, Bigcitystrings.com or Juststrings.com and have them waiting for you at your US address when you get there. Yes, cheaper than UK/EU.

P.S. That's what I do...and I live in NYC!!

Thank you i appreciate it. I usually try as hard as I can to stay away from that store but I guess its better than waiting for mail order.

Rudys has a lot of strings - Chromes were the same price in-person as mail order from the mega-discount source.

I don't usually associate NYC with "inexpensive" but I guess it depends on where you're coming from.
